23 cm form toe to heel.
28cm form heel to top.
All my socks are hand cranked on a original 1900’s sock machine – just like granny's granny did in the first world war!
My workshop is in the granite heart of Devon in the charming town of Chagford.
The yarns that I use are natural and luxurious, but I promise that they are also hard wearing and easy to care for. Most of them can be washed with all your other woollies. 75% superwash wool and25% polyamide. BUT: PLEASE FOLLOW THE ADVICE NOTES AS NOT ALL YARNS HAVE THE SAME FUNCTION/CARE INTRUCTIONS....
They are easy to repair when they eventually wear down. – I am still wearing the first pair that I made almost ten years ago!!!! Please contact me when they do need repair, as I am happy to do it for you...free of charge!
The socks do not have any elastic in the cuff or foot so they are ideal for people who suffer for circulatory problems. They stretch quite a bit so are comfortable regardless of the size of the foot. They can also be custom made to meet your needs, so contact me...
The only electricity used making the socks are the occasional midnight oil and frequent loud music, so they leave a very small carbon footprint. They do not come with unnecessary packaging/labels that just get thrown away. Washing and care instructions are send via e-mail!
Wool is an ideal everyday fibre: Hardwearing, moisture wicking and comfortable. These socks are designed for hiking, boots and general wear. They come to mid calf, have extra padding over the top of the foot and a snug fitting heel.
Choose the right size as a small sock will slide forward and a big sock bunch up under the toes.
There are three basic sizes but please contact me if you want something outside the box!
Measure your arm from your inside elbow to your wrist – this is your foot size! Between 20 and 23cm you where a SMALL. MEDIUM is between 23 and 25cm and a LARGE is between 25 and 28 cm. These are just guide lines, but pretty accurate.
Most of the socks are just available as a singular design, as the yarns are bought as limited specials. But this too can change soon.... happy shopping and remember:
PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR ANY SOCKS THAT YOU WANT!
