Full description
this original patchwork quilt has been lovingly made with some wonderful upcycled fabric.
the starting point was the very retro set of holly hobby curtains i found at the dunstable YMCA charity shop. to that, i have added upcycled floral sheets (i have a collection from charity shops and have been waiting for the perfect opprtunity to use them!) and a wonderful blue candlewick bedspread plus an embroidered linen traycloth. the backing is a continuous piece of floral sheet and there is a wide holly hobby binding around the quilt. there are so many wonderful fabrics out there, waiting to be re-used!
i grew up with my mum sewing sweet clothes for myself and my sister, and an aunt who made us a pair of pretty holly hobby cushions one year for christmas. and i caught the patchwork bug with an international online charm square swap.
the floor quilt measures 65cm X 70cm. it is made from freshly washed upcycled fabric with new wool batting and iron-on stiffening for durability. it is machine washable on a gentle cycle.
it is perfect as a baby floor quilt and will graduate to become a picnic blanket for teddy and doll tea parties.
the fabrics were sourced from various charity shops; including YMCA, dunstable, the cat and rabbit rescue centre, east wittering and oxfam, st albans.
i have blogged the process i used if you are interested... poppyartuk.blogspot.com
