A thaumatrope was a popular Victorian toy- an image is printed on each side, and when the strings are twirled, they combine to form one image. A pleasing optical illusion.

Thaumropes came in a bewildering variety of pictures but this is considered the archetypal one (possibly due to the influence of Johnny Depp)- thebird- is it in a cage?

It pleases me greatly. It can please you greatly too. It's smashing, and once you have finished playing it looks very nice displayed hanging on a wall or else where (since it is quite small and portable)

A 3.75 inch mountboard( very thick! Not flimsy and prone to warping this) circle has been lovingly printed and the cardinal hand painted red.
