As my thoughts turn to spring and summer I would like my shop to reflect this mood. My few remaining winter-themed items have, therefore, been reduced.
A frosty morning, with the mist collected at the bottom of the hills, and ice on the stone wall in the foreground.
Scraps of fabric, in muted shades of icy green, are appliqueed in place to form the design for this brooch. The winter sky is stitched over a layer of pure wool fibres. Grey fibres are stitched in place as a hedgerow with skeleton trees outlined in fine cotton, all covered in swathes of misty mohair fibres. A fancy yarn is couched in place across the top of the stone wall to represent icy bracken. The design is framed with two rows of couching over a fancy ribbon thread with metallic fibres, and a pure wool in pale grey.
The back of the brooch is neatened with commercial felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
