About Lula-Jo Dolls

Lula-Jo Dolls

Crafting dreams into reality, one stitch at a time

Hi, I am Lucy, I live in beautiful North Wales with my husband, 7 kids & 2 cats.

I have always loved crafting and creating.
When I was expecting my first baby, 21 years ago, my mum taught me to knit, this has brought me so much joy over the years.
In the last couple of years, I inherited my mum's sewing machine and have taught myself ( with some help from my husband! ) how to use it. This was the beginning of my doll-making journey

I have been inspired by the artwork of people like Mabel Lucy Atwell and The Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Baker, along with characters like Hollie Hobbie, and Victoria Plum. These have greatly influenced the creation of each Lula-Jo doll, adding to the feel of nostalgia and whimsy of each doll.

Lula-Jo Dolls is also a tribute to precious women who have loved me and inspired me with their strength but are now gone. Lula-Jo is a blend of my name, with my mum's name, Sheila, and Jo was my grandma, Josie. Both were taken by cancer, which is why I have chosen to donate money from the sale of these dolls to The Eve Appeal, a charity dedicated to researching and fighting women's cancers.

I think handmade dolls have a special charm, there's something about the craftsmanship and attention to detail that sets them apart. Meticulously stitching and attention to detail gives each doll their personality and story. Plus, knowing that someone poured their creativity and love into making them adds an extra layer of magic.
