Hi, I'm Tamara Maite and Coffi a Cathod is my creative outlet. I'm based in North West Wales on the Isle of Anglesey and live with my husband and cat in a very small house full of fabric.
I make fabric items with a special interest in using family tartans and making accessories, home décor, non-medical face masks and other useful everyday items.
I started out making face masks during *those* years while working at my local hospital, word spread so I got an online shop as was suggested so many times, I supplied other local businesses and started making masks in family tartans which started a bit of an ADHD fixation with tartan. The creative business funded me to leave the local hospital and start working for the National Trauma Centre via a short-lived stint in medical school and it still acts as my happy place today.
Sitting at a sewing machine - usually at my kitchen table - to create is very relaxing and different from my day job and fabric shopping is my idea of heaven.
Coffi a Cathod means Coffee and Cats in Welsh - two of my favourite things in life. The original cat of CaC was an all-black, giant senior rescue boy called Sooty who enjoyed making use of his human servants to bring him snacks and keep the electric blanket at a constant temperature. Since going over the Rainbow Bridge after an acute illness in September 2023, he was followed by another rescue cat who was in desperate need for a home. Fagin is a true Tuxedo cat in personality, dramatic flounces and limited use of the brain cells he was given, he is strictly an indoor cat due to being FIV+ and we think he is wonderful.
