Made by me, inspired by nature

Hi. Thanks for visiting the Jewel Glass shop. I’m Frances Lloyd, a glass-fuser operating from my garden workshop in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. When I'm not fusing I am off hiking with my husband, all the time keeping an eye out for the next scene to feature in one of my pieces.

With a life-long passion for wildlife and the countryside, and living in a quiet wooded valley, it is not surprising that a lot of my creations are inspired by the natural world. I especially love trees, hand-painting them onto most of my landscape scenes along with a few birds for added life.

Glass fusing is addictive. The material itself is brilliant to work with if, like me, you are a bit of a magpie when it comes to colour. I use Bullseye glass which comes from Oregon in the USA and it never disappoints in its sheer range of hues - perfect if you are trying to capture vivid landscapes and seascapes. All my pieces start off as sheet glass which I hand cut, layer and fire for anything up to 24 hours, depending on the effect I am trying to create. It is always with nervous anticipation that I open the lid of my kiln to see what awaits me inside!

Some of my items are 'off the peg' and can be purchased if they are in stock however larger pieces such as some of my glass curves and waves are made to order - just check the product description for more information.
