My journey through life has led me to settle in the beautiful Orkney Islands where I fell in love with the peace and quiet of the Isles, enabling me to live a slow pace of life. While the island group lies off the north coast of Scotland, Orcadians are mostly of Viking ancestry, and regard themselves closer to Scandinavia than the UK

Winter time is studio time, as the spring and summer are taken up with caring for the food crops growing in the garden and greenhouse - all part of the slower, more sustainable lifestyle we have achieved here. My crafting is inspired by Clairdale, our 300 year old croft cottage on Sanday. While refurbishing our home, I started making home decor items from material that I found lying around the place, and my clocks, lamps and light pull pendants that are now available here in my shop all evolved from that. Discovering the vintage glass floats in the garden was a game changer, and they are all being used to create beautiful, unique items with a very real local history attached. I have also found a huge number of ancient scallop shells, the remains of a food source discarded by generations of crofters, that I will also be incorporating into future one-off designs.

A word about commissions. I am happy to accept private commissions, but I am unable to start work on them until late September, plenty of time for Christmas gifts. I accept private work for any of my crafting; pens, clocks, lamps - whatever you want. For example, I have made pens with shells from as far afield as Bali, so if you have shells from a favourite beach, I can make you a wonderful keepsake or a very special (and unique) gift. You would need to send me the shells you wish me to use, and any unused shells will be returned to you with the finished pen. Just drop me a line!

I use Royal Mail to ship my pens, larger items (clocks, lamps etc) ship via R.M Special Delivery. Bear in mind I live on a remote island, and we do experience weather related delays to the postal system, especially in winter.
Currently I don't ship overseas.
