About Fulgorine

Fulgorine

Colourful polymer clay jewellery joyfully handmade.

I make beads and unique jewellery incorporating my handmade polymer clay components and reclaimed vintage beads. I am inspired by bright clean colours and the tactile shapes and textures I can make from polymer clay.

I first stumbled across polymer clay in 2009 in the form of intricate millefiori pendants, since then I've been hooked. I love the bright colours and wide variety of techniques that can be used with polymer clay. It is an incredibly versatile medium and can mimic other materials like ceramic or wood. It is also a relatively new medium that adopts techniques from other crafts (e.g. glass millefiori). I like to feature the unique properties of polymer clay such as my finger prints, showing that I was able to touch the beads as I made them (unlike glass beads which are red hot and molten when made).

Before discovering polymer clay I dabbled in several mediums; traditional painting and drawing, stained glass and digital work (in fact I have a BA in Computer Arts). Since having children I have become more and more focussed on jewellery making as I find it immensely satisfying to be able to complete a project like a pair of earrings in an evening. I also appreciate ending up with a tangible object whose purpose is to be beautiful.

Making makes me happy. I'd love it if what I make helps make others happy too.
