Full description
A very tactile item - beautifully embroidered and firmly felted to hold its shape. I don't have any more of this red yarn and this bag will remain one of a kind! A Valentine's gift perhaps?
The bag has been knitted in a pure wool yarn in which is twisted knitting ribbon in shades of purple, shocking pink and apricot. Darts are knitted into the base of the bag to give a 'full pouch shape. The top of the bag is shaped to 'gather it in' slightly under the integral flap which closes with a stitched cotton loop over a large purple button. The bag has been fulled, or felted, after knitting to give a closer texture. The handles are plaited from a mixture of yarns and has also been felted. Stitched firmly in place at both sides of the bag, a single, long handle has then been twisted and doubled over to create a loop. The loop is stitched across the top of the front of the bag - an attractive feature which results in a 'double handle'.
Roses, rose buds, golden daisies and purple michaelmas daisy buds have been embroidered onto the flap of the bag. The large roses are stitched in a fancy, ribbon type yarn in shades of red and purple. The rose buds are stitched in a dark red ribbon type yarn. Other details have been stitched in tapestry wools.
The body of the bag is unlined. The inside of the flap is finished with commercial red felt to neaten the underside of the embroidery.
