A wish to experiment further with recycling, my embellisher machine and an adpatation of a brooch design were the starting points for this container

Full description
A lovely bright, summer, seaside scene, featuring a lighthouse, golden sands, sea pinks and a sail boat, is embroidered on the felted background of this container.
A sheet of kunin felt, manufactured from re-cycled plastic bottles, has been decorated by the felted addition of lengths of yarn, by the use of an embellisher. The lighthouse shape and the boat's sail have then been stitched in wool and worked through the embellisher again. Machine stitching criss-crosses the design to provide stability and ensure firm fixing. Details of the boat and lighthouse, together with marram grass and sea pinks, are then hand embroidered in wools and crochet cotton. The 'front' shows the lighthouse - the 'back' the sail boat.
The decorated 'sleeve' is wound round the lower part of a re-cycled plastic bottle and blanket stitched down the seam and round the top edge. Blanket stitch in bright yellow cotton attaches a kunin felt base. The container is lined with a blue and white striped fabric and gathers closed with a toggle clasp over a length of white satin ribbon. The ends of the ribbon are trimmed with a wooden bead.
The assembled sewing kit give an indication of how much the container will hold. Use yours for jewellery, cosmetics, crochet hooks, cotton balls, as a gift container for sweets or other small items, hair accessories.........
