Meet the maker Richard Heald

I am 42 and live in Leeds with my wife and 2 children and have been studying photography on and off over the last 18 years. I first realised my passion for photography, when I first went to evening class at Park lane college in Leeds, this was when I first processed black and white film and produced my first black and white print, I put a sheet of photographic paper in to a tray of chemicals and the image I had imprinted onto the paper using an enlarger, turned this blank piece of paper into an image I had taken – I was hooked!

I take my camera with me wherever I go and like to take photos of seascapes, wildlife photography and shots of the local area, including Golden Acre park, Saltaire, Skipton and Leeds city centre. I have a particular passion for abstract photography and like to use various filters, flash guns, fisheye lenses and enjoy using long shutter speed timings to create motion blur. A favourite place to use these techniques is London as the skyline is so iconic, filled with vibrant colours, as a contrast I still love black and white photography in images and continue to use it, using my digital camera and on occasion my film camera.

I have my images printed at a professional lab, using the best Hp printers and inks, all my images are printed on high quality German etched paper, which gives the image a textured feel, whilst not losing any of the detail.

I have a website, which has all my images for sale on:
