My love of all things fabric and yarn stems from early childhood - memories of Mum and Grandma teaching me to knit and crochet ( I couldn't grasp crochet first time round)....Work and family then intervened and, although I continued to cross-stitch, I didn't really sew anything until I bought my first (very basic!) sewing machine 3 years ago to complete my first project - a hexagon patchwork memory quilt made from my children's baby clothes. I remember helping my Mum make patchwork bedding from our clothes over 30 years ago and I wanted to do the same. Once completed, I had been well and truly bitten by the sewing bug and haven't stopped making all sorts of things since - cushions, curtains, soft toys, purses and bags and lavender sachets! The soft toys have been hugely popular gifts for my children and their friends and I have to confess I find it hard to part with the purses and bags! I have started to crochet again over the last 12 months and the penny seems to have dropped second time round!
The name for the shop was inspired by my daughter who is a self-professed tomboy who hates pink! It can be so difficult to find clothes or gifts for young girls which aren't p - i - n - k, so I try to make items with that in mind - things which are still slightly girly but with a bit of a twist and not all in shades of flamingo/fuschia/rose/blossom or cerise!
I hope you get as much pleasure from my projects as I do in choosing the fabrics and making them.
