Meet the maker Elizabeth Norris

I’ve always been interested in art and design but my education was in Science. In my previous job I used tools a lot and I’ve always been a practical person. When I discovered silversmithing and jewellery which combined my desire to design with getting messy with metal I was hooked.

I dreamed of having a studio space under the arches on Brighton seafront, making jewellery and watching the waves out of the window. I now have that studio space in Brighton and I love it although I can’t see the sea !

My jewellery and silversmithing training was mostly in London and I was chuffed to win an award from The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths for my course work.

With a background in Biology I am obviously drawn to the natural world but I love abstracting shapes and elements from this for my designs. I like bold shapes and strong colours.

My aim is to produce distinctly different jewellery and cufflinks with enamels for colour and texture.
