Meet the maker Natalie Jones

Hi. I have been a knit wear designer for about 15 years since I completed my degree at Winchester School of Art in Textiles/Fashion.
My designs are entirely machine knitted. I have two machines: a dubied, which is a cast iron fine gauge machine which makes very professional, lightweight fabrics and a standard domestic from which I create my lace and thread lace designs.
Knitting and fabrics are a real passion for me. I have a small studio in the Chew Valley, Somerset in which I store over 70 shades of cotton, lambswool and lurex so I am surrounded by colour.
My greatest inspiration for my work is the natural world. I live in a very beautiful area of the countryside and I am passionate about the colours and textures I find in the lakes, waterfalls and woods around me. I enjoy taking photographs of the beauty I see, which are then put onto moods boards which are the base themes of my designs. I am surrounded by as many mood boards as I am yarns!!
In the past I have sold my scarves and designs to companies such as Missoni, I have sold in over 50 galleries and boutiques. I was selected for the BHS Gala award show in the Southbank, London hosted by Jeff Banks, in addition to being featured in Vogue and Red magazines.
I hope you love my designs are much as I love making them!
