Meet the maker Lesley McShea

Ceramics is my life-long passion and I have been perfecting my craft for over 30 years. I am a professional member of the Contemporary Potters' Association and the London Potters. My pieces have been featured in group exhibitions since 1982. I have various on-line shops, and outlets. Links can be found on my website:

My work is mostly wheel-thrown with some press-moulded textural combinations. I reference elements of ancient artefacts in my work as well as period garden ornamentation and architecture. I produce a wide variety of functional, individual, one-off pieces including: platters, elevated stemmed vessels, birdbaths, sconces, striped bowls, vases, mugs and candle bowls.

I prefer to use grogged (sandy) stoneware clay due to its durability and versatile nature to produce rough, volcanic finishes. The surfaces are distressed in order to maximise the contrasts with the vivid shiny glazes I use.

I also make beautiful, original pet memorials hand-thrown and personalised for your beloved and your pet. These are available in a wide variety of forms, sizes and glaze finishes, and an inscription can be applied. A memorial Urn takes approximately 3 weeks to be completed once an order is placed.

I am available for private consultations, please send a message to make an appointment.
