Meet the maker Kara Ford

I started pottiery as a hobby nearly 10 years ago. After finishing my fine art degree I was working in 9-5 office job and needed to do something creative to keep me sane- I tried a pottery class and was hooked.

I love the permanence of ceramics, they can be heirlooms passed down through families, a favourite dinner set, for example, will carry the beloved memories of a family for generations, that's why my work always carries a touch of nostalgia in it's colours or decoration.

I get such a thrill when someone tells me one of my creations is their favourite mug or dish and is used as part of their everyday lives.
