Meet the maker Hannah Longmuir

I’m 26 years old and lucky enough to live in the beautiful Scottish Borders. I work from a garden shed which has a view of the Cheviot Hills. I share my shed with spiders and swallows and snails.

I've been exploring the Borders countryside since I was a little girl, collecting pebbles and caterpillars and toads and feathers, and bringing them home to draw.

My weapon of choice is my pencil, and using it I explore the world around me. I'm always surprised and delighted by the details that I find. I aim for my drawings to be delicate and calm, carefully observed and filled with character.

My hooligan of a fluffy dog, Buddy Bear, is my faithful companion. I also have a very ancient grumpy budgie called Chirpy. As well as arting, I like day trips and letter writing; I collect postcards; and seeing a heron makes me happy.
