It's a large stylised floral stripe, made by Jonelle for John Lewis and called Jakata. Lots of pinks and greens on a white background, and I believe it dates from the 1980s. The bag is faced inside at the top with the main fabric for a professional finish and then lined with plain peach cotton. The long handles measure about 58cm so could be used over the shoulder. I've made them about 4cm wide and lightly padded for extra comfort, topstitched along the edges and down the centre. Inside the bag I have inserted a keyring loop so that the purse can be clipped inside safely. The corners of the bag have been squared off so that the base is boxed to make it roomy inside. No stiffening so it can be folded down to pack in your suitcase. All neatly topstitched with ivory thread. Measures approx 47cm across the top and x 33cm down the side seams. Upper and lower fronts are lined with plain cotton lining fabric. I have made bias binding from the navy fabric to bind the opening. Finished with a 'Handmade with Love' button. On a wooden coat hanger so it can hang on your line, in your kitchen or laundry room. The design of my peg bags means that the upper and lower fronts are both supported by the hanger, which gives them added strength. Measures about 31cm wide x 39cm high (not including the hook).
