I love what I do...

Misty Silver is a jewellery business located in the beautiful Cornish countryside.

A little bit about me:
Following in my Grandad's footsteps I love to create beautiful jewellery. Grandad was a watch maker and jeweller, who until he retired owned a little shop in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Legend tells us that Crystals and precious stones are so much more than beautiful adornments to be shown off in jewellery. They each offer unique and powerful properties. Crystals have been used throughout the ages for their healing and therapeutic influences!

"Crystals are gifts from the earth"
As well as creating beautiful jewellery, crystals are widely used today in holistic therapies. They can bring many and varied benefits to the wearer.

Wearing your chosen stones in jewellery enhances the power of the crystal.
There are two basic types of crystal power or energy found within the healing crystals of gemstone jewellery. These are projective and receptive; the two types contain various vibrations i.e. attract love and repel negativity. We utilise these powers to bring changes to our fast-paced lifestyles, with their powers we can change ourselves and our lives!
Stones were first used as amulets worn to protect and deflect negativity and evil. Their use is ultimately associated to religion, magic and rituals. From ancient times, we have harnessed the beauty, power and mystery that lies deep within these gifts from the Earth.

Silver
Magical lore promotes silver as the moon's metal.
Silver is used for protective purposes...
"As the moon reflects the light of the sun so too does its metal reflect negativity away from the wearer"
Energy - Receptive
Element - water
Planet - Moon
Deities - Isis, Diana, Luna, Selene, Lucina & ALL Moon & Night Goddesses
Associated stones - Emerald, Jade, Lapis Lazuli & Pearl
Silver is a natural, powerful metal and has many properties - protection, peace, travel, love & money.

Rings
Gods and Goddesses' wore rings as they were used as sacred, magical protectors. The finger upon which a ring is worn, holds great significance!
The index finger was thought to be particularly powerful - rings decorated with healing stones should be worn on this finger.
The second finger (middle finger) is alleged an unlucky finger upon which to wear rings.
Rings are worn on the third finger (ring finger) because of ancient beliefs of the Greeks and Romans. They believed that a vein led from the left 'ring' finger & connected directly to the heart (the symbol of love). This vein is known as the 'Vena Amoris' (vein of love)

Necklaces & Chokers
The necklace and choker are simply larger versions of rings but worn on the neck! They have pretty much the same effects and influences as rings worn on the fingers. Necklaces worn close to or over the heart influence the emotions and can attract new love or reinforce existing love.

Earrings
Earrings again are rings but worn in the ears. Originally worn to fend off disease, negative influences and evil spirits which were believed to enter the body through any orifice, particularly the ears. They were later used as a representation of slavery. Pirates wore earrings as they were believed to improve eyesight particularly when adorned with emeralds! They also believed pierced ears prevented sea sickness...

Sterling Silver & Gemstone Care.
Each stone has its own, individual requirements.
These sterling silver & gemstones jewellery care tips will help prolong the lifetime of your jewellery...
Always store individual pieces of jewellery separately to avoid knocks and scratching. This will also prevent any chains becoming tangled or knotted.
They can be individually wrapped in acid free tissue paper then placed in a moisture free box.
Some stones such as opal need a little moisture during storage. This can be achieved by using a perfume free baby wipe in a plastic pouch.
Always avoid spraying perfume on or around your jewellery.
If your jewellery comes into contact with perfumes, perspiration or they become dull, gently wash in a mild detergent and warm water using a very soft brush.
This method can be used to rejuvenate your jewellery without fear of damage.
To keep your jewellery in tip top condition always wipe clean with a super soft, damp cloth after use to remove any residual oils or dirt.
