About Loki Bear Knitwear

Loki Bear Knitwear

Knitwear Extraordinaire. Luxury scarves and neck warmers.

Loki Bear Knitwear uses natural high quality yarns sourced from the UK and France. All designs are hand knits and hand finished for a superior and unique product.

We'll use any yarn of your choice including double knit acrylic if you need something you can machine wash. We do bespoke orders and you can choose your own yarns and colours if you want to. There are some natural yarns that are specially treated for machine wash. Angora requires a cold handwash and flat drying.

ANGORA

English and French.

English and French Angora breeds shed their coat regularly, and the fibre is harvested by gently combing or teasing the wool out as the new coat grows in. This process is quite time-consuming: hence the price tag to ethical angora. But it is painless and doesn't stress or harm the rabbit.

German, Giant and Chinese.
However: 90% of the world’s angora fibre comes from China, and most of the rabbits farmed there are German, or Giant Angoras. These rabbits do not moult in the same way as the English and French Angoras, and their fur must be shorn or clipped with scissors or clippers, or worse, ripped out at the roots.

I only use vintage Rowan Angora Haze and/or vintage French or English angora. I do not purchase from China.

Merino wool is incredibly soft and resiliently warm.

Angora wool is an extraordinarily soft fibre. Angora fibres are hollow, which gives them a characteristic `floating' feel. They're exceptionally soft and possess the highest heat retention (two-and-a-half times warmer than sheep's wool), and best moisture-wicking properties of any natural fibre.

Alpaca is a lustrous and silky natural fibre. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and bears no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.

ALL NATURAL FIBRE SCARVES MUST BE HAND WASHED IN COLD OR TEPID WATER. DO NOT RUB OR SCRUB. DRY FLAT. A gentle dunk in diluted fabric conditioner is all that is needed to clean and freshen. Do not wring. Gently squeeze and dry flat.
