Stay-at-home mum exploring how to creatively work-from-home to turn a much loved hobby into a small business

Hello, I'm Lizi and this is my very small, home-grown business, The Hidden Flamingo, selling fabric creations for all the family.

I have recently taken a career break from a very stressful and time consuming teaching job in a local secondary school. This has enabled me to establish a better sense of well-being and has given me the opportunity to spend more quality time with my 2 gorgeous young children, Imogen (6) and Finley (3).

I have always had a passion for sewing and being creative and have spent many hours in front of my sewing machine designing and creating fabric items for my whole family - who doesn't enjoy receiving a handmade item as a birthday/Easter/Valentine's/Christmas etc... present?!

I have transformed my incredibly messy spare room into a workable sewing studio/office so that I am now able to work at home. It's great to be able to have an idea, start designing and creating but easily pause to do the school run twice a day and play endless games of cars and trains with my son.

It like to create items that my children and husband can use using colourful vibrant colours - I do love an eye-catching print! I hope to have a wide range of items - I can't seem to find enough time create my many ideas (to many games of cars and trains I guess).
