About Little Paws Knits

Little Paws Knits

Hand knitted puppies using luxury yarns.

Welcome to my shop!

My name is Lynne and I live on the edge of the North York Moors.

As a child in the 70’s my lovely Mum taught me how to knit. I didn’t pick up the needles again until I was in my 30’s and even then I only ever tried scarves. Down went the needles again until I reached my 50’s where I thought I’d try again. I started trying different techniques and knitting lace but what I really wanted to do was make realistic looking dogs for adults needing a bit of emotional support. Whether this was the elderly who missed having a pet in their lives but could no longer have the real thing. A person affected by dementia, someone who was grieving and needed some comfort, a young adult starting University and away from home or just for the inner child in us all.

I searched the internet and came across the wonderfully talented Claire Garland and her brilliant patterns. Would I be any good enough though? Only one way to find out, I started out with her beginners bunny and then the bug hit!

Along the way I learnt how different yarns work together, using natural fibres of Alpaca, mohair, silk, Merinos, sometimes all held together at once. How using different colours together can created that subtle change where you need it.

I feel soo lucky that I can pick up my needles and create from my mind a unique puppy dog. It’s always a bit magical seeing them come to life whilst I’m knitting them.

Now they await patiently looking for their forever home to be hugged and loved.
