Mid 2016 my health took a bit of a dive, I've got various medical problems including MS and I take an obscene amount of medication just to keep functioning. This latest relapse forced me to re-evaluate my priorities and make some changes.
My job working full time for the NHS was stressful, it was killing me slowly and was a major factor in my latest relapse as well as causing an overall decline in my health.
It was around the same time that my eldest daughter announced she was pregnant.
I missed out on most of my two daughters childhoods, I spent the majority of their waking hours at work, too many times they were asleep when I left and asleep when I arrived home. I didn't want to miss out watching my grandchildren grow up too. Looking back, I think that was the deciding factor.
So, I quit my job and became a self employed cake decorator, card maker and general crafter, and I haven't looked back.
I'm way more relaxed, my health will never be fantastic but it is a lot better and I've been able to spend so much time with my little grandson, I know I'm biased but he really is the cutest little thing, l love him so much! I've gotten to see his first steps and hear his first words, things I never got to experience with my own children.
I've always enjoyed crafting, I'm so lucky to be able to turn my hobby into my job!
