“Handmade pottery, vegan-friendly, fired with renewable energy”
Oxford Clay specialises in vegan-friendly handmade ceramics. We have designed our ceramics to cause minimal impact on humans, animals and the environment.
Our Ingredients:
UK Ball Clays
We mix our own special combination of Ball Clays mined in Devon and Dorset and China Clay mined in Cornwall.
Recycled Copper Oxide
We collect electrical waste from local charity shops and recycle it into copper oxide which we use as a pottery colourant.
Recycled Plant Ash
We collect waste wood ash and recycle this into the glaze for our pots. We mix wood ash, crushed rock and water to make our glaze
Rain Water
We harvest rain water and use this to make our clays and to clean equipment.
Renewable Energy
We run the lighting and kiln our studio using electricity from 100% renewable sources. We use a highly energy-efficient kiln to minimize the energy used during each firing.
Biodegradable Packaging
All our packaging is paper-based and is 100% biodegradable. We use a paper tape to seal our parcels and the glue used on this tape is made from plant-based starch.
