Handmade furniture by richard

Hi, I’m Richard and I will be personally making you a piece of furniture – which I still find rather surprising!

So how did that happen?

The story starts back when I decided to free up some space by getting rid of my TV and my computer screen and replacing them with a single display that did both jobs. This meant rearranging the room, and as one thing led to another, I ended up with an ideal place for the desk – but it wouldn’t fit. So it was time for a new desk … or was it? I didn’t use the drawers, I didn’t need it to be so deep, and I certainly didn’t like its boring office style. So what I really needed was a trendy new table!

I hated the flat pack stuff, and didn’t see anything interesting below about £500 at the “we-saw-you-coming” independents … and, of course, nothing was the right size.

But I did like the urban chic I saw in the posh places, and that got me thinking … after all, my grandfather had spent his whole life as a carpenter …

So, I made my own table. Perfect fit. Smiley face.

Then people saw it and asked where it came from – so I had to make some more.

Then I put one on eBay, and during 2016 my free time disappeared into the work shed, and that got me thinking again ...

So, welcome to 2017 and I’ve made the big decision … the launch of CraftedTime and my first range of handmade New Yorker tables available to the public. Great style, at affordable prices!
