The french knots create a lovely texture for the moss and the two different greens used add depth. I have added a few dots of deep red thread to give a sense of the colours of autumn and falling leaves. The yarns used are a mix of alpaca, merino wool, yak and nylon fibres with a little bit of sparkly silver. Alpaca is warmer than sheep wool and yak is said to be up to 40% warmer than sheep wool so this cowl is lovely and warm and will keep out all of those wintry chills that come in the cooler months. The warp is stripes of grey, beige, coral and black in varying widths and has been woven in sections of yarn hand dyed by a folksy artist in pinky reds that vary in intensity with patches of the natural yak fibre colour coming through. At even distances around the cowl are stripes of a hand dyed yarn in greys that has a delicate silver sparkle running through it. The effect is a cloth that has a lot of subtle colour changes throughout. It is a really beautiful cloth with a soft handle and drape that feels so comfy on your neck. It is easy to wear and to adjust to be worn however you like. The hand embroidered focal point of the cowl has been stitched onto charcoal grey essex linen with an abstract pattern made with french knots in different colours.
