About Chapel Country Felts

Chapel Country Felts

Quality handmade felt accessories for you and your home

I'm Adrienne, hi!

I started my original business as Handmade by ... Adrienne business in 2014, selling my wares at Artisan Markets in Cheshire, Staffordshire and Greater Manchester, and built a range of gifts and accessories. I began teaching workshops for beginners in 2017, and developed my first kit that year too. Then 2020 happened, and I decided that I needed to reshape it as we go forward into the future. I've tried a number of online stores, but I like Folksy because it’s in the UK and entirely focussed on bringing UK-based makers and buyers together.

Handmade by ... Adrienne will continue as the home for my kits and workshops. Chapel Country Felts is the new home of my ready-made gifts and accessories for you and your home.

Both ‘brands’ will be available here, under the Chapel Country Felts banner. I will be updating packaging etc to reflect the change as I run out of old stocks of packaging (I don’t want to make waste!) and will update photos at that time.

So what do I make and why?

I love making felt. Wool is magical, and felting it with a range of other materials like silk or viscose, is like alchemy! I love texture and colour - especially making the softest scarves I can possibly achieve, in carefully selected colours based on the Colour Me Beautiful seasons system of deciding which colours suit you best. I also love nature and seek to bring that into my gifts and accessories.

Scarves, felted soaps, drier balls and greetings cards are my core products. They are all items I use myself. As I find new ideas I try them out, and if I’d use them, I’ll make them!

All of my items are handmade by me. I use a range of techniques, including cobweb and Nuno, and needle felting. For my cards I used a range of mediums including stitch and ready-made card toppers (where it doesn't make sense to try to make them from felt).

I want to be sure the felt I make is of the best possible quality, so I make sure I stay in touch with the wider felt making community, and take opportunities to learn new, and improve my existing techniques as much as possible. I am a member of the International Feltmakers Association, and regularly take workshops led by the world's leading contemporary feltmakers such as Lisa Klakulak, Dagmar Binder and Wendy Bailye. You can be sure to see my designs evolve over time as I continue to develop.
