Leather Craft Handmade in Wales by Colin Jones

My grandfather worked as a saddler in Bridgend, Wales over eighty years ago. The things I make today would have been made in very much the same way, with mostly the same techniques all those years ago. It would be quite possible for him to take my place in my workshop for me to get a coffee; if only we could build a marvellous time-travelling machine which would allow such a thing to happen.

I came to leather work myself while recuperating from a mildly serious operation. It started as therapy, but I soon found myself taking to the craft like a duck to water. Slowly I began to get good at saddle stitch, then I started finding my own way into the craft.

Buying from me

Everything from Zero Valley is made by me using mostly traditional methods. I sew all the leather by hand, using saddle stitch. That gives a strength and durability which other stitching may lack.

I only use full-grain leather, vegetable tanned. This is the best leather, and of course is more expensive. Full grain leather maintains all the characteristics of the original leather hides.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Please note: Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken.
