Beautiful Homewards and Furniture Handcrafted form Reclaimed Wood in Devon

The Who:

Emma & Mike, husband & wife, homebodys, although not ones to shy away from adventure, we created Vincent Trading with a passion for traditional methods, beauty in imperfection and our planet.

We live by the sea in South Devon and find ourselves listening to the waves after long days creating, we love nothing more than a cosy night by a fire with our little Cyprus rescue dog Lola.

After relocating to Devon in 2016, Vincent Trading was born, we had always wanted to do something as a team and this seemed like the perfect option. Combining Mike's traditional joinery skills and Emma's passion for interiors & all things reclaimed, we set about designing our first product, the serving tray, we didn't get it right the first time, making it from a scaffold board it was just too chunky and things kept falling off the sides. We quickly moved to pallets and added a little lip, popped it online and it sold instantly!

Our goal with Vincent Trading is create timeless pieces which will last generations, removing the need for fast fashion and saving a more than a few trees along the way.

The What:

We are a collection of hand crafted, reclaimed, sustainably sourced, ethical and eco-friendly products for your home.

​Everything we design is designed with a purpose, beautiful items built to last a lifetime and beyond. Each piece of reclaimed wood is given a new life, ready to come join your family, ready to be lovingly used for many years to come.

​Each and every item is something we would, and do, have in our own home. Each design in tested to fit within our lifestyle, it's put into action in our busy multi-generational household and only the ones who are beautiful and useful make it into the collection you see today.

​Vincent Trading and everything about it is our passion, it keeps us pushing through late nights and busy weekends, creating beautifully considered and functional items for you to enjoy. By sharing our journey we hope to connect with like-minded folk, bring a little happiness & thoughtfulness back to gifting and have a positive impact on our planet.

The Why:
Reclaimed & Sustainable
We all know wood comes from trees, but we don't seem to think about the beautiful tree that will be cut down from our constant need for new. Although wood can be a sustainable material, and it's far better than plastic, it's still so very important to consciously source, reuse and re-purpose wherever possible.
The majority of our wood is reclaimed, if we cannot source something reclaimed we will always find something that is sustainably grown and managed.

Beauty in Imperfection
Buying something handcrafted & lovingly made from reclaimed materials, gives the item another level of beauty that cannot be explained, it creates tactile timeless items where no two are ever the same.
These items become loved for each additional groove, bump or knock they receive in their lifetime before, and after, their life in your home.
We don't think everything should be 100% perfect, we celebrate the different and embrace the unique, each piece may vary very slightly in size, shape and finish, because who wants to be exactly the same as everyone else?

Giving Back
At the end of our first year, we will give a proportion of our profits back to create sustainable woodlands, places for wildlife to, not only live, but thrive. This way you know that each item you purchase is giving back to the environment in more than one way.
We also give any usable left over materials and props to charity shops and are looking to join a befriending service to give back to our community.
We have also used one of our fields and planted a new woodland, currently it's in its infancy yet it has already brought so much wildlife and joy to our family.

Slow Fashion
Let's not change our homewares every year, instead lets have a collection of items for each season, a little like that big box of Christmas decorations in the loft, they come out each year, are celebrated for a whole month then head back upstairs for another 11 months.
If we have a collection of beautiful items we love, cosy blankets in the winter and all the blues in the summer we can keep our homes looking fresh and interesting without purchasing all the new trends each year.
Our pieces are built to live through all the seasons, take the bench out to the outdoor table in the summer (but please bring him back in if it's going to rain) and use him for emergency Christmas seating. Use the tray for serving summer sundowners, autumnal hot chocolates and spring homemade breakfasts.

Built to Last
Using only the very best materials and high quality joinery techniques, our items really are built to last. With 13 years experience Mike really knows what he's doing, plus we only ever work with the most skilled and quality checked crafts men and women on any project we collaborate on.
We spend our time carefully choosing reclaimed and sustainable materials in order to create pieces that fit a simple criteria; they need to be durable, beautiful and built to last. Items that are not destined to end up in a landfill.

A Lifelong Love
Our beautiful little (and some big) homewares want to come and live with you for life... they want to be passed down generations, see houses change, watch fashions come and go. Live with you, laugh with you & create memories with you.
We have created a collection of items that can be incorporated in so many different style houses, plus we offer a full bespoke service to ensure you get exactly the right piece for you home.
