Handstamping messages onto vintage silver plated cutlery to create unique and personalised gifts - reloving long forgotten cutlery to give it new life

I'm Rachel and I live in North Shropshire with my husband, two little people and one big dog.
I've always been a little bit arty-crafty having dabbled with textiles, embroidery, jewellery making and woodwork.  I decided to combine my love of shiny metal with whacking things with a hammer and the result is Say In Silver.

I specialise in hand stamping personalised messages onto vintage silver plated cutlery. I also use scrap sheet metal to produce key rings, bookmarks, plant and Kilner labels and small pictures with uplifting quotes.

I have many standard messages in stock for immediate dispatch (which can be found at a reduced rate on my facebook page), but I really enjoy creating one off personalised pieces for individuals. Take a look at ideas I have listed within each product for inspiration. Just let me know what text you would like, if you are unsure we can work together to produce something unique.

I honestly believe in the beauty of the hand made, upcycled, product. I don't buy 'blanks' for the key rings for example. I buy scrap sheet metal, saw it to size and file the edges, punch a hole and whack the text until I take pity on my neighbours. Very often blood, sweat and tears really have gone into the making. The cutlery I use is vintage silver plated and, as such, handle designs cannot be picked or chosen I'm afraid, I just use what is available.

At the moment I'm working from a corner of the playroom during school hours and evenings, but I am professional and proud of my work and treat every customer with utmost importance.

If you cannot see exactly what you're looking for please do get in touch and I'm sure we can work something out.

Product care; metal does tarnish over time. Cutlery and sheet metal products will arrive in good, clean, shiny order, but may well need polishing at some point in the future (of course many actually prefer this look, especially on copper items which can develop a beautiful patina). I have found the simplest way is smothering the item in a good dollop of tomato ketchup and cleaning off after a few minutes. Who knew?!
