textiles artist - designer maker

I have been sewing most of my life. I went to Art College to study Textiles Art. After college I found work that involved sewing and working with textiles for periods of time including making wedding dresses and ballgowns. Life then became too busy with a different focus allowing rare times to settle at sewing and art projects.
It is only recently that I have been able to find the time and space to become creative again in both the designing and making aspect and the textiles art interests.
My website shows more of the variety of work that I produce.
I have a passion for recycling and reusing old fabrics or smaller offcut pieces that would otherwise be thrown away.
Each of the newer pieces is unique, similar fabrics may be used but in different combinations. Those combinations are influenced by the amount of fabric available the weight, colours, textures and colour balances. I tend not to preplan but make decisions while I work on each piece.
I now live in rural Wales, keep chickens, garden, walk the dog, enjoy nature and the rain.
My surroundings influence my art work as I use 'found' natural objects and materials in my work and dye the fabrics I use with sources gathered locally on my walks. I hope to begin to include these aspects into the bags that I am producing at present.
