"If I can't take my camera - there's no point in going!"

I studied fine art specialising in mixed media using mostly photographic materials, the old kind, paper and chemicals. I took negatives and used light to draw directly onto the surface of paper to create dream like images, and then paint directly onto the surface of the paper with chemicals to reveal the image. So for many years the darkroom was my studio.
When I wasn't involved in that process I was documenting everything else around me with a my camera or on film/video which led me to study photojournalism, and I started documenting the world for other people.

The quote above was my preferred mental state of experiencing the world around me through a lens. This changed for ten years when I decided to experience the world without being behind a camera! Shock Horror. Although I was still involved in creating images while working in various creative industries such as producing live event graphics and video production.

In 2009 I decided to get a new camera, which made me realise that I was at my most happy when creating images, both as an indulgence and professionally. I also realised that my memories of events were stronger when I was looking through a lens, the images being a trigger for my memory.

I love coffee, I adore cats and I'm inspired by so many things, dreams, art, film, books and all genres of photography. All of these look better when travelling, so I love to do that too.
