A bit about me
I came to glass art when I treated myself to a one-to-one session with local glass artist, Richard Pett, whose large pieces inspired by the elemental forces of nature in the far west of Cornwall in turn inspired me, and was judged, by him, to be "a natural". Because of my limited workspace I transferred my efforts from leaded lights to copper foiling.
A restructuring at work resulting in the loss of my job coincided with a diagnosis of MS; focussing on my glass art gave me something productive to do with my time - and where I could take a rest break as needed - an provided an opportunity for mindfulness at this emotionally challenging time.
Growing in confidence and skill, I want to make what makes me smile (and makes you smile too, I hope) as well as continuing to challenge myself.
Why 'Pi Glass'?
In choosing a business name, it was suggested I use my own or a family name; my name, however, is shared by a celebrity and that has followed me around since the 1980s, so that was no good. 'Pi' is the nickname we gave my son before he was born (his Dad's a maths teacher :-) ) and we continue to use as an affectionate shorthand in texts/emails.
