Nutmeg and Sage

Distinctive designs handmade in the Cotswolds

Inspired by my nan, who, as a child, taught me to crochet and the craftsmanship concept of the Arts and Craft movement, I design and create, under the name, Nutmeg and Sage, original handmade statement pieces for decorating the home.

Whilst studying illustration and history of art at University, I began to develop symptoms of what was eventually diagnosed as ME (Myalgic encephalomyelitis, a debilitating illness characterised by severe fatigue, food sensitivity and painful muscles and joints). This at times, prevented me from working on my crafts and art.

After a slow recovery I moved to London and worked in central Government for a number of years and qualified as a TEFL teacher, before moving to the Cotswolds. It was here that I took up sewing again and started to make cushions, blinds and bedspreads for a design company before I started up Nutmeg and Sage to showcase my own designs and my new interest in botanical art.

As well as making soft furnishings, I also tend my 3 allotments which I use as a therapy to help my joint condition and walk my beautiful German Shepherd dogs.
