Hello, my name is Gina and I am the proud owner of Li'l Snippets. I am based in the beautiful Holme Valley, West Yorkshire where my view from my 'making' desk is over the hills upto Holme Moss (famous as being part of the (torturous) route on the Tour de France 2014. I design and create whimsical sculptures, gifts and accessories.
I'm inspired by lots of things, probably too many! As a child I was fascinated and totally believed in magical fairy tale worlds where real and mythical creatures would have human like personalities and be able to talk. I totally believed in The Borrowers. Who wouldn't want a family of tiny people living under their floorboards? I used to fantasize about who could live in my doll's house and create different scenarios for my imaginary family. As an adult not much has changed. I own three dolls house's (two of which are shops), none of them quite complete, because who's home is ever finished? I am still fascinated by miniature worlds and tend to drift off into my make believe zone when creating my little sculptures. When I am creating them they take on their own little personalities and characters and I imagine them in their own little worlds. I love to incorporate found and given items into my work, especially in my miniature creations. I have been known to eye up clothes that friends are wearing just because it would be the perfect miniature fabric! As well as my miniature sculptures I am fascinated by words, spoken or written and I love to people watch. Lots of my inspiration has come from conversations overheard, my slate heart range is a result of this.
I am owned by a gorgeous Romanian, rescue dog and a totally adorable, delinquent cat. Life just can't get any better!
