The elongated triangle was hand pierced from sterling silver sheet before sanding , drilling the hole for connection, cleaning and polishing. The sea ripple texture was then added by hand with a hammer to create dips of highs and lows. The beautiful natural light frosted sea tumbled sea glass was collected by myself from Seaham beach, the transparent glass is almost circular but in a freeform shape created by the tumbling of the sea, I made the smooth wavey ring band and the setting to fit the glass. How was i made. The hare was cast using the delft clay sand casting method, where molten silver is poured into an impression made by a hand carved wax model. One the casting has been completed it was soldered to the bail made from solid sterling silver sheet, the cabochon setting is then soldered using rings to supend from the front paw. After the pendant came back from being assayed and hallmarked the piece is given a final polish and the rainbow moonstone set in place. A great gift for an ocean beach sea lover The sea glass was collected by myself from seaham beach, the bail was hand made by myself from recycled sterling silver. No treatment used, the glass has been cleaned only, the frosting being naturally caused by being tumbled in the sea and sand. The thing that makes Seaham sea glass so special is its origins. It comes from the remnants of a huge Victorian bottle factory that operated in the town until its closure in 1921. The factory discarded its waste into the sea which over time became tumbled by the waves to create the sea glass that is there today with its naturally frosted appearance. This sea glass can have a clearer appearance if you prefer by simply wiping a very little mineral or baby oil over the glass, removing any unwanted oil with a soft cloth. The hare was cast using the delft clay sand casting method, where molten silver is poured into an impression made by a hand carved wax model. The outer design is a raindrop shape made out of solid sterling silver round wire, at the bottom of the raindrop soldered onto the outside is a tiny had cut forget me not flower, once all the soldering was completed the tiny flowers have been enameled with transparent blue glass enamel with a small amount of yellow in the centre, using the wet pack technique where all the tiny glass particals are placed within the flower then heated until the glass has reached the molten stage. The finished pieces are then cleaned and polished before adding to sterling silver ear wires. No two will ever be a perfect match as when the glass particals melt then can mingle where they touch, ie yellow and blue will create a green where they touch, this add a little extra special colour. The size of the earrings from the top of the raindrop to the bottom is 2.7 cm, the width at the widest part of the raindrop is 1.5 cm, the tiny flower is between 4-5 mm.
