My love for accessories started from a young age. My mother always made sure that my sisters and I hair were decorated with baubles, ribbons and clips. As I grew up, the "accessories fever" was expanded to costume and fashion jewellery. When I started making jewellery, starting a business or developing a brand was the furthest thing from my mind. I was tired of not being able to find pieces that I liked in the stores. I would envision something and then get disappointed when my manhunt in the stores would be unsuccessful. Being a proactive person, I took matters into my own hands and learned how to make jewellery. I started off stringing simple pieces then I branched off into bead weaving and kumihimo. I made pieces solely for myself and immediate family members. Other people began to get interested and in 2009, Embellished Works, then as Sheek Designs by Patrice M was born. Over the years, I have expanded the brand to include my other hobbies such as crochet and sewing. I love that I am able to create beautiful pieces from just a ball of yarn or a couple of beads and I am grateful to Almighty God for blessing me with such an amazing gift. The future is very bright for Embellished Works as I am also embarking on a mission to create accents for home and baby must haves. I sincerely hope that you would come along for the ride with me.
