Red Fragments textile brooch

This brooch is part of my original Fragments collection that I started to create during lockdown. I've used tiny scraps of fabric to form the background of the brooch that I have decorated with scraps of lace, buttons and beads. A piece of fabric needs to be really wee in order for me to put it in the bin!

An unique brooch that would make a lovely birthday or christmas present.

I've made this lavender pillow using tea-dyed fabric that I've decorated with a button that I created as part of my 2020 100 day project. I also added two pieces of slightly tattered silk recovered from a damaged quilt, and a piece of antique lace.
The back of the pillow is made from a piece of vintage fabric
The pillow is entirely filled with English grown lavender.

The pillow is 10cm square.

The Marimeko and french knot brooch

This brooch is made from a button that I created as part of 2020's 100 day project (this was button 65 out of 100).
I used a recycled aluminium button blank as the base of this button. I added a piece of vintage lace over the Marimeko fabric. I decorated the lace with french knots in white, yellow, pink and green. Vintage cotton was used to cover the back of the button and a safety pin was added.
You can use this brooch on anything you can clip a safety pin to - your coat, hat, handbag, cardigan etc
The brooch is approximately 5cm (2in) in diameter.

Red and white and lace pouch

To make this small pouch I used a thick vintage linen for the inside of the pouch and a red and white cotton for the outside.

To decorate I kantha-stitched 5 scraps of fabric, some red lace and three pieces of lace cut from larger damaged vintage pieces. I also added a Suffolk puff, with a linen button and two antique mother of pearl buttons.

To create the pouch I folded the stitched fabrics into three and sewed up the sides. I haven't added a fastening to the pouch as the weight of the flap keeps it closed.

The pouch is 14.5cm wide and 9.5cm tall (5.75in x 3.75in) approximately.

The pastel yellow brooch with sequins and beads

This brooch has been made from an old button that has been covered in a vintage soft floral fabric in muted tones, and backed with vintage linen. To decorate the brooch, I added a small suffolk puff made from a scrap of Liberty fabric in matching tones and added beads, sequins and french knots to complete the brooch decoration. It has a vintage, but new safety pin to attach the brooch to clothing etc at the back, along with an Elsie May and Bertha label.

The brooch is 5cm (3in) in diameter.

The brooch is unique and it would make a lovely Christmas or birthday present.

The dainty flower and natural pearl brooch

I made this brooch from a fragment of vintage French fabric that I used to wrap around an old, plain button and backed it with a piece of the same fabric, As the flower image was so pretty, I just decided to edge the brooch with natural pearls from a damaged necklace, for decoration. I think it has a bit of a Regency feel to it, simple, yet elegant.

You can fasten the brooch to your clothes, bag etc using the vintage safety pin that I've stitched to the back.

It measures 4cm (1.5in) in diameter.

Ideal for a birthday gift or Christmas present.

The cream brooch with lace, beads and sequins and lots of french knots

This hand-stitched brooch is made from a silk base wrapped around a recycled aluminium brooch form. I've decorated it with lace and net scrap, along with some beads and sequins and a good quantity of French knots, all stitched with silk thread. On the back, which is made from a piece vintage linen, there is a safety pin for attaching the brooch to your clothes etc.

The brooch measures 5cm (2in) approx. in diameter.

This unique brooch would make an ideal birthday or Christmas gift or it could be worn by a bride or wedding guest and would also make a great pearl (30th) wedding anniversary present.
