About Daisy Heart Creations

Daisy Heart Creations

I make handmade covers and pouches from beautiful fabrics, particularly Liberty prints.

I love to sew and have always enjoyed making gifts for friends and family, but there is a limit to how many things you can give away, so I decided to start selling my book covers, glasses cases and more online and more recently at the Makers Store in Copperhouse, Hayle, Cornwall.

I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful spot in West Cornwall and can see the sea across open fields from my sewing room window! Much of my inspiration is gained from the flowers and trees in my rural surroundings and I love working with fabrics which are full of the colour and pattern found in the natural world. On the farm where I was brought up, we could see both St Ives Bay on the North Cornish coast and St Michael's Mount off the South Coast and I still love being near the ever changing sea, which may explain my attraction to all shades of blue and turquoise/teal!

My favourite fabric to sew is Liberty's fine Tana lawn (with so many stunning designs), but I have recently discovered some lovely Japanese fabrics and am often tempted by others that catch my eye. When available, I like to create beautiful gifts from the unique blue cyanotype prints provided by local artist Judith Tutin.

I enjoy choosing different coloured linings to coordinate with the main printed fabrics and like to experiment with different combinations of fabric, interfacing and padding until I reach the desired result.
