About Eastdesign Furniture & homeware

Eastdesign Furniture & homeware

I make function led, contemporary wooden homewares and small furniture pieces.

'Being a rural, small producer of homewares and furniture I strive for efficiency and sustainability. By only using locally sourced, reclaimed and sustainably managed English and tropical hardwoods and offcuts (the bits bigger companies/producers don't want) and being considered and thoughtful in my planning and design, I make full use of this wonderful material and wastage is kept to a bare minimum. So that's why you will see my designs made from different woods, from time to time, using what's available not just what's trendy'

Having obtained a Masters degree in industrial design, Andrew is a classically trained industrial/transportation Designer turned maker who found more satisfaction/interest and gained more recognition from designing and creating unique, abstract wooden Furniture and homewares that play on people’s interactions and daily habits. He is an avid people watcher and that's where a lot of the ideas/designs come from, watching and listening to people. And thus hopefully making their lives easier and more involved/engaged with what they use in their daily lives/routines.Function is a major feature in his designs as well as a clean uncluttered aesthetic, to promote longevity and a timeless appearance. Colour -through contrasting wood species and other materials- features heavily to highlight a contemporary form and promote the distinguishing, functional elements.

Based in Norfolk Andrews designs are individually handmade to order using traditional hand tools and modern machinery.
