Hello and welcome to my Folksy Shop.
I am a Decorative Artist and Printmaker based just outside Guildford in Surrey in the UK where I’m incredibly lucky to be able to work from my own studio among the oak trees at the end of my garden.
I’ve always loved to draw, paint and make things, e verything from jewellery to soft furnishings and even my wedding dress. This love of creating beautiful and unique things led me to study for a BA (Hons) Degree at Nottingham Trent University in Decorative Arts specialising in my final year creating items made from cast, coloured and polished glass. The course itself, which followed on from a year’s foundation course, covered many different techniques and mediums which has undoubtedly underpinned my love of constantly trying out new materials and disciplines.
Until recently all of this was just a hobby, but in 2017 I decided to concentrate fully on what I really love doing. As a result I decided to open my wonderful Folksy Shop.
My inspiration comes mainly from nature. I love the variety of colours, shapes, texture and pattern and always try to create items which have a positive quality and balance to them. I have worked with many mediums, but recently I have concentrated on Abstract Fluid Painting, Impasto Painting and Lino Printing. I enjoy both the freedom I feel when painting and the discipline and patience needed for printmaking.
