Semi-porcelain bowls and dishes inspired by nature, made precious with gold and silver.

Hi , my name is Jane Boswell. I am the artist/ maker behind Cherry Loft Studio. My studio is located at the bottom of my garden surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Black Mountains in South Wales. I trained as a Fine Art Painter but became drawn to ceramics after discovering the gorgeousness of working with semi-porcelain clay. I love it's pure white colour and the way I am able to decorate it with bubble glazes or add colour in the initial moulding process. Its malleable nature allows me to hand mould my pieces and this is how I began making my ring dishes and bowls. I make my own plaster moulds for my larger bowls, rolling out the clay before forming it into the shapes I need.
I draw my inspiration from nature. I am inspired by pebbles and shells found on the beach or by petals and flowers found in the garden. I add gold and silver gilding to my designs to enhance their organic quality and add a touch of preciousness to my pieces.
I called my business "Cherryloftstudio " as I have a beautiful cherry tree in my garden.
