I studied ceramics and textile design in college years back as just one of my subjects. I went on to working, travelling and building a family and home. I kept up visits to galleries, dragging the family to all manner of artistic event without ever suspecting that I would someday have my own kiln. My passion was reignited when I made friends with a potter and spent a little time chatting and potting over cups of tea in her studio. I loved it. Enrolled in a brush up course and started building a library on the subject. It wasn't long before I heard of a school trying to get rid of their kiln. In we swooped with piano movers and a crew of strong lads and 'voila'. We Have a kiln.
A lot of what I make is inspired by my love of nature and my belief that functional things can be beautiful. Most of what I make is hand built though I do throw from time to time. I have a background in art so use other skills in my work especially Lino cuts which I have made from my own designs then pressed into clay. I feel very privileged to have this wonderful studio at the bottom of my garden and to be able to do something I really love.
