I sell various items made from polymer clay, das clay and wool.
I make jewellery using Polymer clay and mostly use stainless steel findings for my earrings as I find this metal does not tarnish and very hypoallergenic.
I work in Education as a Science Technician and during first lockdown I was getting very bored so decided to try using polymer clay and haven't stopped. I make earrings, fairy houses, keychains and will try making most things. I also use air dry Das clay to make candle holders, fairy doors etc. Das clay is really nice to work with and has now prompted me to research into making pottery items (My next adventure).
I basically taught myself to use the clay by watching tutorials online and just trial and error.
I also love to crotchet and again, this was another skill that I taught myself during first lockdown by watching tutorials and reading books. My first attempts were so bad and I could not understand how anyone could possibly read a crotchet pattern as no matter how much I tried, I couldn't do it. But, I didn't give up and slowly I began to understand little bits and then one day, it all fell into place and now I can read crotchet patterns no problem and to the extent I can even read US versions of the pattern as American patterns have different terminology from UK. I now can make baby blankets, baby mobiles, beautiful vases with crotchet flowers, tea cosies, scarfs and loads more items.
I also took up loom knitting and have made baby cuddle sacs, scarfs and flowers. Again, I taught myself by watching tutorials online and putting time and energy into learning the skills.
I enjoy learning new skills and crafts and will try anything that I like the look of and its just so satisfying seeing the end result knowing that only two years ago I couldn't make it.
