I am passionate about our natural world and dream of teaching kids all about the animals we share the planet with so they can fall in love and want to protect them for the future.

Hi I'm Ria, the person behind everything here at Button and Squirt. I set up the business 3 years ago wanting to find an outlet for the designs and ideas that were in my head, things have grown and developed a lot over the past few years and what Im doing now looks totally different to how I started, but it is finally 100% the direction I want to go in and working on the things I am truly passionate about.
Everything I do is inspired by my two boys, Dexter and Axel, they are both animal mad, particularly Dexter who is destined to grow up to work with animals in some role or another, I think he would like to be the next David Attenborough. There love and interest in the natural world made me want to create things that help to teach kids about the world and the state of the earth currently made me want to inspire the next generation to protect our planet and the animals we share it with so they are still here for future generations to fall in love with.
All of my items are based around my illustrations, I have tried to create these in a way that they are realistic and correct for a child trying to identify an animal but also with a soft cute edge to them that makes the illustrations appeal to people young and old. I use bright vibrant fun colours as they get kids interests (and I am a bit of a colour lover through and through)
The main basis of my collection now is my Amazing Animals Fact Cards, so far I have created 2 different sets teaching kids all about a huge range of unusual and amazing animals from around the world. Each set features 35 different animals and I hope to add more sets going forward. I have then created a variety of other products using the illustrations that I have created for the cards, these include notebooks, greetings cards, purses, mugs and lots more, with the hope to expand the range going forward.
I love to draw and I love to teach people about the things I have drawn, there is nothing better than getting feedback that a child has been inspired by something I have done and now loves a certain animal or has started to campaign their friends to do litter picks or they've written their own project on one of my unusual animals. that is the reason behind it all and something I hope I can continue to do for more and more children.
