Traditional Letterpress Printing by tradional old printers.

I started printing about 13 with an Adana hand press. Soon I was printing with a variety of letterpress and litho print machines. Time and jobs move on and I find myself working with the latest laser and inkjet printing, very good but not the same craft satisfaction with letterpress printing.
Moving to a farm I had more space and began collecting the equipment (some of which is in the picture), one; to preserve it and two; to use it in the traditional manner. It was very useful being on a farm as a tractor is handy to move heavy printing equipement.
Restoration is another big part of what we done at Bannock Farm Press and we are currently restored a 1950s Intertype C4 linecaster (the type of machine that was used to set type for newspapers and books).
Our aim is to share the distinctive feel and sharpness of letterpress printing using our hot metal equipment when ever possible.

Buying from me

Bannock Farm Press was setup as a project to retain and enhance traditional letterpress printing in the heart of the Somerset countryside. The equipment we use mainly dates from the 1950s to the late 1970s although one hand press we are restoring is from the 1900s.
We aim to print novel stationery items on this equipment using hot metal typesetting whereever possible to give our stationery that debossed letterpress look. Although we offer a stock range we are happy to take on a bespoke project, please contact us if you wish to discuss this.
Our printing process although traditional is also very sustainable as we have an extesive array of pv panels to generate electricty for our equipment.
