Haunted - Original A4 Figurative, Emotional, Horror painting with Red Rope

A solitary figure is bound in vivid red rope against a dark, shifting background. Their eyes are fixed intensely on something beyond the edge of the painting, leaving the object of their attention - and the story surrounding them - unseen. Haunted is a figurative mixed-media painting built around ambiguity. The binding, exposed figure and fixed sidelong gaze can suggest vulnerability, restraint, intimacy, fear or something entirely different depending on the viewer. Rather than resolving the scene into a single narrative, the painting leaves space for the person looking at it to decide what is happening. The figure emerges from layers of loose, atmospheric colour and texture, with the more defined body and rope contrasting against the shifting background. Strong red accents draw the eye across the figure, while the surrounding darker and more muted tones give the painting its unsettled, dreamlike atmosphere. It sits somewhere between figurative art, psychological horror and dark fantasy: a scene with a story, but no single explanation.
