Deep within the woodland, beneath the wild roses, a family of foxes gathers close... but what could they possibly be whispering about?
Where the Foxes Whisper is an original mixed-media painting celebrating the warmth, closeness and quiet magic of the natural world.
Three beautiful foxes nestle together amongst flowers, their faces turned towards one another as though caught in the middle of a secret conversation. There is something wonderfully tender about the scene - perhaps a mother and her young, perhaps three members of a woodland family sharing a quiet moment together.
The foxes are surrounded by rich flowers and curling leaves, with deep burgundy, dusty rose, teal and earthy tones creating a mysterious, atmospheric woodland setting. Delicate leaf details weave through the composition, while the softly crackled background adds an almost antique, dreamlike quality.
Created on a hand-stretched canvas, the artwork has been built up through many layers using crackle paste, moulding paste, imitation gold leaf, acrylic paint, oil paint, acrylic pen and oil pen. These varied techniques create wonderful depth, texture and subtle shimmering details, giving the painting plenty to discover.
I wanted to leave a little of the story untold - perhaps the foxes are sharing a secret that only they know.
The painting has been finished with a protective varnish to enhance the colours and help preserve the artwork.
The canvas edges are painted for a finished contemporary appearance, and D-rings have been securely attached to the back, so the painting is ready to hang and enjoy straight away.
