Thank you for popping into my shop! I’m a retired Graphic Designer, but thankfully I haven’t retired from being creative. I still love the process of making things, experimenting with colour, pattern and texture, and giving new life to all sorts of materials.
You’ll find a colourful and eclectic mix of handmade pieces in my shop, with birds and flowers featuring strongly throughout. I particularly enjoy combining unexpected materials, patterns and colours to create unique mixed-media pieces — so there’s always something a little different to discover.
I’m also a big believer in happy postage! If you find more than one item you’d like, I ALWAYS combine postage and refund any excess. I know it can be a little alarming to see the postage total increase as you add items to your basket, but please don’t worry. I’ll package your purchases together and refund the excess postage on the same day your order is dispatched.

Full description
'The leaves are turning' is a little celebration of autumn colour and garden life. This one-of-a-kind mixed-media artwork features a charming folk bird busy foraging amongst the flowers and grasses.
With its soft palette of sage greens, warm ochre and glowing orange, the piece has a gentle, cosy autumnal feel and would make a lovely gift for a nature lover or anyone who enjoys bringing a little bit of the garden indoors.
The little folk bird has been given a colourful wing using layered fabrics and embroidery threads and I've added some metallic threads to his tail to define the feathers.
The background has been carefully built up using layers of decoupage papers and fabrics, including a selection of richly patterned batiks. The different materials create a wonderfully tactile surface, with each layer adding colour, pattern and depth.
In the foreground, I've added stylised flowers and grasses to create a little autumn garden for the bird to explore. Tiny seed beads add subtle flashes of sparkle amongst the foliage.
The combination of fabric, paper, stitch and embellishment gives this piece a lovely handcrafted character, with plenty of little details to discover.

The artwork is presented in a good quality double mount. The outer measurements are 8 x 6 inches and the inside aperture is 3.75 x 5.75 inches.
It is titled and signed on reverse and comes with a gift tag.
